My afternoon visit to the Padauk Shwe War Monastic School came as a surprise today. After spending a week in Rangon photographing local life, I thought it was time to take a day off. When I recieved a call from a local guide I had met the previous week, asking if I would be interested in spending time at the Paduak Shwe War Monastic School photographing the day to day activies of the students for the school's brochures and marketing tools. Of course, I was delighted and set off right away for an afternoon with some of the sweetest kids I'd ever met.
The Paduak Shwe Monastic School is run by Baddanta Teza. It was founded in 1958 and is free of charge. Presently they have room for 300 students and have over 600 students attending class. Even with overcrowded conditions they do not turn students away. The community is very poor and many parents cannot afford public schooling for their children.
This brother and sister take their studies seriously. Hoping one day to make their parents proud and pass all their exams.
One of the teachers at the Padauk Shwe War Monastic Education School teaching grades 1-3.
This little boy was a little shy but loved having his photo taken. My visit to the Padauk Shwe War Monastic Education School was an unschedualed surprise and was without a doubt a memoriable one!

TinHtar - Hello Matilde,
When I was looking for the photos of monastery school children, I saw your amazing photos! I would like to request you if we could be able to use them for our Page as a reference! As we want to promote our projects which is mainly on teaching English to students in monastery education centers.
Hope you would let us use.
Thanks & Regards,
Tin
